Entrance Test for Incoming 1st Years for September 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian,

To help us best identify the needs of your daughter we have asked they participate in an entrance test called the Cognative Abilities Test (CAT).  CAT is made up of a series of short tests which assess the student's reasoning (thinking) abilities in key areas that support educational development and academic attainment.  No preparation is necessary; it is important that your child does not become anxious as no pre-learning or knowledge is needed to complete the tests.  The students will take the test on a computer.

Each student must bring the following with her to the exam:

The Background Information Form received in the post

Headphones / earphones

Testing will take place in 2 sessions as per the letter you received in the post:

9.45am - 12.15pm

1.45pm - 4.30pm

Students must be collected by parents/guardians upon completion of the test.

Please note also, an information session for parents only will take place on Tuesday February 5th @ 7pm, around supporting your daughter to make informed subject choices in the context of the new Junior Cycle curriculum.  Please note this is NEW information, so even if you have a daughter in school already, you must attend this meeting.

Many thanks,

Ms. Fallon
