Ombudsman for Children

Dear Friends,

The Ombudsman for Children needs your help to hear from all children under the age of 18 in Ireland.

This year Ireland is reporting to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The Ombudsman for Children’s Office wants to get the views of children under 18 about what it is like to live in Ireland.

We are asking that you share our survey with children in your school to ensure that as many children are consulted! You can do this in a number of ways:

1. Share our survey with children under the age of 18 that attend your school via email.

2. Share our survey with your student’s parent or guardians via email or classroom app so they can encourage their children to complete it.

We have attached some FAQs for you, the email can that you can send out to your children and parents networks and have prepared some sample posts for your classroom apps. (The email that you can send to the parents is also attached as Gaeilge, in Polish, and in Arabic.)

This survey is live now, and closes Friday 7 May 2021.

We really need your help to make sure that as many children in Ireland as possible complete this survey, so we would really appreciate it if you could share this widely and support children to share their views with UN. We greatly appreciate if you have already done so.

If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch. We appreciate your support in this important work.

Kind regards,

Participation and Rights Education Team
