Day one down - well done!!!

Well done to all the families who brought their daughter to us for the first time today. We understand the transition to secondary school can be challenging at the best of times, without all the extra challenges Covid has presented us with.  Below please find a letter from Ms. Kilmartin expressing her thanks for your cooperation and patience today. Also below is a link to the handbook your daughter received today.

With thanks...

Please note all students must have their own earphones with them everyday.  They must be regular earbuds, not wireless headphones as they may not always have access to the internet.  For hygiene reasons Earbuds cannot be shared or borrowed so it is important each student has their own!  Please, please make sure they are labelled somehow.  If your daughters name is not on them we have no hope of identifying them should they get lost!

SCHOOL BOOK GRANT 2020/21

Please read carefully before contacting the school with queries!!

AVAILABLE TO 1ST & 5TH YEAR STUDENTS ONLY

The Department of Education & Science has allocated a book grant to Coláiste Bríde.

This grant is to give assistance towards the purchase of school books for students entering 1st and 5th year only. To qualify for this grant, the student must come from a home where genuine hardship exists.  The Department has defined this as “any household where a family is dependant on Social Welfare or in receipt of FIS”.  This grant has not been extended to include those on the Pandemic Unemployment Benefit as this is a temporary benefit for those waiting to return to work.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we cannot facilitate applicants calling to the school in person.

In lieu of this, we are asking those who meet the criteria to email proof of same, i.e. a picture of:

  1. Your daughters current valid medical card

OR

  1. Your most recent social welfare receipt

OR

  1. A current letter from the Department of Social Welfare detailing your FIS entitlement

Please email one of the above to mkelly@colaistebride.com. Please include your daughters name and primary school (1st years) or name and rang last year (5th years) in the email.  If you meet the criteria we will then email the voucher to you for you to present at School & Office World.

(**Please note - images will be used for verification purposes only and will be deleted immediately afterwards.  We will not be storing or sharing any information provided with any other parties**)

The grant is for a total of €100 (€40 for LCA students) and is only redeemable in School and Office World.  Funds are limited and grants will be issued on a first come first served basis.  Closing date for applications is Thursday, August 20th 2020. Apologies for the short time frame but details of the funds have only recently been clarified.

If you have any queries please contact mkelly@colaistebride.com by email onlyPlease do not come to the school in person as we cannot facilitate members of the public visiting the building at present.

Booklists & Calendars

Please find below the booklist and calendar for the 2020/21 school year.  You should have received confirmation of your subject options by post last week.  If you are unsure about anything on the booklist, please do not buy the book in question until your daughter starts school and the matter can be clarified.

There is a grant of €100 available to incoming 1st year students if a parent/guardian is in receipt of social welfare or you have a medical card for your daughter. This must be a full, current medical card, not a GP only card.  We will be processing book grants when we return to the office in AugustYou will be notified of this date and time by text in August.

As you can see from the calendar we are aiming for a return date of August 26th.  However, the entire calendar is subject to change as Covid-19 continues to impact.  We are hoping to have exact details for the return to school by mid August.  We will post them here on the website as soon as they are clarified. Please be assured we will be reopening in adherence with guidelines issued by the Department of Education.  All health and safety measures as recommended will be in place when we reopen in August.

Please note the office will be closed for the month of July, both physically and virtually.  We will reopen (all going well!) on Tuesday August 4th.
